The Ed Sullivan Show was a famous music and variety show that ran from 1948 to 1971. Hosted by Ed Sullivan, the show was famous for having some of the most popular music artists in the world on. Some of them are Elvis Presley, Janis Joplin, The Beach Boys, The Beatles, The Doors, The Mamas & the Papas, The Rolling Stones, and many others.

The 1949 movie musical On the Town stars Gene Kelly, Frank Sinatra, Ann Miller, and Betty Garrett. It is known for being set in New York City and the songs "New York, New York", and "Prehistoric Man". Ann Miller's dancing during the "Prehistoric Man" scene is a very popular.

Pianist, composer, and bandleader Duke Ellington, is one of my favorite jazz musicians. He is one of the best jazz artists of all time. This collection has many of his songs from the 20s on. Some of my favorites are "East St. Louis Toodle-Oo", "Take It Easy", "Hot and Bothered", "The Mooche", "It Don't Mean a Thing (If It Ain't Got That Swing)", "Caravan", "Pyramid", "Tired Socks", "Ko-Ko", "Take the "A" Train", "Perdido", and "Arabesque Cookie". A must own collection for jazz fans.

Lady Be Good", "St. James Infirmary Bules (Parts 1 & II)", "These Foolish Things (Remind Me of You)", "Nightmare", "Blues in the Night", "Concerto for Clarinet (Parts 1 & II)", and many more very good big band songs.

The Essential Glenn Miller

This is a big collection of songs by bandleader and trombonist Glenn Miller from the late 30s to the 40s. Glen Miller's band unique sound makes them one of the most famous ever. My favorites are "In the Mood" and "Moonlight Serenade". Some other songs I like are "Tuxedo Junction", "Little Brown Jug", "Pennsylvania 6-5000", "(I've Got a Gal in) Kalamazoo", "American Patrol", and "Don't Sit Under the Apple Tree (With Anyone Else But Me)". Also here are songs with Glenn Miller & the Army Air Force Band, with great playing by all musicians. "Over There" and "The St. Louis Blues March" are some of my favorites.

This is a live album of bebop jazz from 1947 at Carnegie Hall with some of my favorite jazz artists; Dizzy Gillespie and Charlie Parker. All the songs are lively. Some of my favorites are "Dizzy Atmosphere", "Relaxin' at Camarillo", "Cubano-Be, Cubano-Bop", "One Bass Hit", and "Salt Peanuts". I also like Dizzy Gillespie's Complete RCA Victor Recordings 1947-1949 album.

Bandleader Benny Goodman was known as the "King of Swing". This big collection has many of his songs from the 30s and 40s. Some of my favorites are "Let's Dance", "Bugle Call Rag", "Sing, Sing, Sing", "There's a Small Hotel" (with Helen Ward), "This Can't Be Love" (with Martha Tilton), "Roll 'Em", and "Stealin' Apples".
